The NADIIA team includes researchers and clinicians who have contributed to developing and researching NADIIA over time. 

Anne Whitworth

University of Tasmania

Australia

Professor Anne Whitworth is a clinician, researcher and

educator in the field of Speech Pathology at the University of Tasmania, and Adjunct Professor at Curtin University. Anne has been working with the NADIIA protocol since her time in the UK, first publishing results from the pilot study in 2010, and continues to lead a range of projects to explore critical ingredients and therapy effectiveness of NADIIA across acquired neurological populations with language difficulties.

Jade Cartwright

University of Tasmania
Australia

Associate Professor Jade Cartwright is an Australian speech pathologist with clinical and research interests in the areas of dementia and primary progressive aphasia (PPA). Jade has been collaborating with the NADIIA team since 2010 and is leading research adapting the protocol for use with people with PPA and other types of dementia. Jade is a strong advocate for interventions targeting everyday communication and social connectedness in people with dementia.

Janet Webster

Newcastle University, UK

Dr Janet Webster is the Head of Speech and Language Sciences at Newcastle University. As a clinician in the Tavistock Aphasia Centre and a researcher, she has a longstanding interest in verb and sentence production and how to promote generalisation to everyday communication. The NADIIA projects have presented a unique opportunity to explore the relationship between sentence and discourse production and the role of metalinguistic awareness in interventions for aphasia. 

Deborah West

Curtin University

Australia

Deborah West is a Speech Pathologist who has extensive experience in the field of aphasia rehabilitation, currently working in a Stroke Rehabilitation clinic in Perth, Western Australia, and as Senior Research Speech Pathologist on the NADIIApp Project at Curtin University.  As a practising clinician-researcher, Deborah has joined the NADIIA team, bringing an essential clinical focus to the delivery of NADIIA communication therapy using mobile technology.
